Morgan Skinner is an emerging artist working in Toronto. While he works primarily as a painter, his choice in medium follows the necessity of the idea to be conveyed. Connecting many of his pieces is his preference for ambiguity, humour, parody, play, and an acknowledgement of art historical and religious iconographic language. Aesthetically Morgan Skinner’s art is connected by the use of empty space for staging narrative. His approach to art is one of a story teller and through the stories he reveals or creates he hopes to elicit a contemplative or empathic response. This response then reveals the social or political basis of the work.
