Rita-Anne Piquet's paintings portray intimate, often secluded views, inviting repose and contemplation. They are personal studies which speak to universal themes. Her artistic training has ranged from Three Schools of Art in Toronto, to the Ballynakil Studios in Ireland. In recent years, Rita-Anne has continued to develop her practice, studying botanical art at the Royal Ontario Museum and painting in the style of the Dutch Masters at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. Rita-Anne has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in Ontario, Quebec and Bermuda. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and the Botanical Artists of Canada. She received the Jurors' Choice Award for Oil Painting at the 2012 Annual Juried Show of the Botanical Artists of Canada and 3rd prize in the representational category at the 2009 Juried Exhibition of the Society of Canadian Artists. She was also a recipient of the HSBC Award of Excellence at Plein Air Canada's Oakville Exhibition. Rita-Anne served as Artist-in-Residence at the Masterworks Foundation of Bermuda. She has been awarded grants from both the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
