Roslyn Levin SCA sumi-e painter I have painted in sumi-e or Japanese brushstroke painting, for almost 40 years. I have been studying Japanese calligraphy since 2009. In 2012 I was elected to the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA). My work has been juried into both national and international shows in both North America and Europe. I have exhibited in China, Japan, England, Toronto, Orangeville, Guelph, Shelburne (ON), Vancouver and Ottawa. My work is in collections worldwide. My work was juried into David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2009, 2010 & 2012 exhibits in London England. Amongst my many awards: 2012 Grand Prize in the 'Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada' juried in Japan 2012 Honourable Mention at Sumi-e Artists of Canada Annual Exhibit 2011 Gold Prize in the 'Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada' juried in Japan 2011 - 3rd prize in the Desmond Annual Juried Exhibit in Ridgetown, ON 2010 Judge's Award in the 'Japanese Calligraphy Competition in Canada'. This first prize in the competition was created for my piece. Five Japanese Master Calligraphers “applaud (Roslyn's) work for its energy, quality of line and composition” 2009 the American Sumi-e Society & SAC in honoured my 'Innovative & Personal Approach' to my chosen medium. 2003 & 2005 - a first in Sumi-e Artists of Canada's (SAC) annual exhibit – the first artist to win this award twice.
