Artist Wendy Carmichael-Bauld paints bold, compelling images, both figurative and abstract, creating a tangible record of the world as seen from her unique perspective. Broad swaths of colors and expansive compositions result in paintings both ambitious and highly expressive. Her use of line and form is in turn subtle and then highly defined, adding to the overall emotionality of the work. When it comes to painting, Carmichael-Bauld is passionate, and she sees her role as an artist as a calling to do her part to bring beauty and goodness into the world. Inspired by Ken Keyes’ story of the Hundredth Monkey, she seeks to be “that ‘100th Artist’ who makes a difference, not in numbers, but in being that ‘Critical Mass’ or ‘Tipping Point’ who adds beauty to the world, therefore being part of a positive social change.” All of Carmichael Bauld’s paintings reflect this intrinsic desire, as well as a great sense of freedom and release, as she again and again offers her spectacular vision to us all.
