Dianne Sutter's art training has been through workshops, Art School courses, travel and working in her home studio or plein air.. Her background in geography and conservation has inspired the love of the landscape wherever that may be. To-day, the effect of colour is her prime interest-a love of colour and how it reacts on a piece of a paper, a canvas or a piece of silk. Her life began in Hamilton where, as a teenagers, she followed John Sloan around on Sunday afternoons, painting what he painted. Although a sculptor and teacher, he loved being outside seeing the country side around Hamilton. After University and marriage, Dianne moved to what was then small town Brampton and became involved with Art Group '59. This group hired their own teachers such as John Schneider from the Doone School of Art, Alex Miller and Tom LaPierre from OCA and Brampton's own, Tom Mathews. This group lasted for 15 years. These were the years of acrylics and oils for Dianne. In the early .90's, a desire to learn more about watercolour, led to a four year weekly stint at Humber College with Eric Dymond. And then she met Donnah Cameron II from Newmarket who inspired the use of bold colours in watercolour but also with dyes on Silk. The painting on silk has now become a passion for Dianne. She is a member of SPIN (Silk Painters International) and a local chapter of SPIN, based at Beaux-Arts Brampton. This group is in the process of preparing their second 'Only Silk' exhibtion for the fall of 2012. Now centered permanently at Sauble Beach, Dianne continues to exhibit in her shared Studio at Beaux-Arts Brampton in the downtown, at the Southampton Gallery and Shop and has been accepted in various exhibitions such as the Tom Thomson Convergence Exhibit, the 2012 Beaux-Arts Juried Spring Show, the Blue Mountain Foundation Juried Exhibition, as well as shows in Midland, Meaford where she received an Honourable Mention for one of her paintings in 2012 and Art on the Walk in the Alliston area. The Golden Gallery in Tobermory also exhibits her work as has Elizabeth's Gallery in Goderich, Ontario. As part of the Grey-Bruce Shoreline Artists group, Dianne exhibits in the annual Studio Tour, Art on the Fence in Southampton and the major exhibition and sale of art held in Sauble Beach on an annual basis. This is the 25th year for this show
