Mary Elizabeth Postma
The Glad Market
June 2011, Watercolour, 21"x 28", 31"x 37" framed, $325
Nothing fancy, just an old time road stand, some eggs and bunnies. The glad colours of the flowers and the bold home-made signs against a back drop of the barn red market building give the artist a feeling of abundance every time she drives by this roadside stand.
Sweet Pea
October 2010, Watercolour, 15"x 19", 26"x28" framed, $295.00
All the working of the land, the spraying and cutting, time and weather and still the flowers persevere.
Mary Elizabeth Postma has always lived in a small town or rural space in Ontario, 15 of her years in the Ridgetown area. She now lives in Talbotville.
She is a self-taught artist who enjoys working mainly in watercolours. She is often inspired by the perseverance of flowers to grow in the big open landscapes of Ontario.
